Why are my variable AC fans operating erratically?
Are you using three-phase power? The control and the variable AC fan must be connected to the same phase of power. See Using Three-Phase power in the user manual for more information.

Can I control variable fans with this control?
No, it is for fixed-speed fans or heaters only. If you need variable control, the FC-1T-1VAC controls variable fans.
How many fans can it control?
The limiting factor is the variable stage rating. Add up the current draw of the fans you want to control and compare it to the variable stage rating. If the combined fans draw less than the variable stage rating, then you can control them.
