When installing controls there are a few considerations that need to be made.

Our controls come in NEMA 4x enclosures. This rating is only maintained when any holes in the enclosure are made with NEMA 4X rated hardware and sealing techniques. All strain reliefs, cable glands, or conduit connectors need to be sealed properly to maintain the NEMA 4X rating of the enclosure as a whole. Additionally, if conduit is not sealed on the far end, but rather open to the barn/room environment, then additional interior sealing must take place. If air can travel up the conduit from the barn/room into the control, then the control can still be exposed to corrosive gasses and moisture. Use non-hardening electrical duct seal, also called electrical sealing putty, inside conduits and other suitable openings where moisture or gases could travel into the control.

While NEMA 4X controls are rated to be installed in barn environments, the best practice is to install them in the cleanest environment possible, such as an office, electrical room, or hallway.
